As long as a position appears on our careers page, you’re welcome to apply. If there’s a specific application deadline, you’ll find it directly in the job description below the requirements.
Looking for answers? You’ve come to the right place!
Before you apply
Are the positions listed on your careers page (still) open, and if so, until when can I apply?
How do I know if a position is right for me or if I’m a good fit?
In our job postings, we describe the profile we’re looking for in detail. Take your time to review the tasks and requirements carefully and think about how they match your own skills and interests. If you see yourself reflected in one of our roles, we look forward to receiving your application :)
You’ll learn even more about the position, the responsibilities, and the team during your initial conversation with us.
Can I submit an unsolicited application?
Currently, we’re unfortunately not able to secure the processing of unsolicited applications. Check out all open roles on our careers page and subscribe to job updates to get notified about new opportunities that match your interests.
Can I do an internship at VSB or write my thesis with your company?
That depends on various factors: the requirements set by your university, availability and capacity for sufficient supervision in your desired department, the planned duration of your work with us, and many more. If you’re interested in an internship or a thesis project at VSB, just send us an email with your request. Please include all relevant details you already know (planned timeframe, preferred department or subject area, etc.) – this helps us coordinate internally and get back to you quickly if suitable opportunities are available.
Application & Recruitment Process
How do I apply?
Please apply for all our positions directly through the online form on our career page. For data protection and organizational reasons, we are unfortunately unable to process applications submitted by email or post.
Which documents do I need to apply?
To get a good understanding of your profile, your CV is the most important document for us. If you’d like to add any relevant certificates, references, or even a cover letter to your application, we’re of course happy to receive these additional details as well.
How can I be sure that my application has been received by you?
Once your application has been uploaded to our system, you’ll automatically receive a confirmation email. This process may take a few minutes. If you don’t see the email in your inbox after a while, please also check your spam folder to make sure it hasn’t been filtered out.
When can I expect to hear back from you?
We are committed to giving you feedback on your application as quickly as possible. However, it is even more important to us to review each profile carefully and in close coordination with the relevant department in order to make a well-informed decision. Because of this thorough process and the high number of applications we are currently receiving, we kindly ask for your patience. If you haven’t heard back from us within three weeks, please feel free to contact us by phone or email so we can make sure your application hasn’t been overlooked.
What does your recruitment process look like?
After carefully reviewing your application and consulting with the relevant department, if the feedback is positive, the first step will usually be an initial (typically digital) meeting. During this conversation, we'll introduce you to the role and VSB in more detail and get to know you better.
If both sides feel confident after this first meeting, the next step is a longer in-person meeting at the respective location, where you can experience the office environment, meet the team, and get a feel for the day-to-day work. Both the responsible manager and a member of our HR team are involved in these steps.
For leadership positions, there is also an online assessment between the two interviews, and the results will be discussed during your on-site visit.
For working student positions, there is usually just one interview, followed by a direct decision.
We always tailor our process to best fit the role we're looking to fill. This means there may occasionally be individual adjustments to the processes described above. If that’s the case, we’ll make sure to let you know in good time during the selection process.
Why wasn’t my application considered?
Please be assured that we never make selection decisions lightly. We aim to find the best possible fit for every role. To achieve this, we carefully review each application and engage in thorough discussions with the relevant department. Based on this, we select the profiles that best match the requirements for the next steps in the process. So don’t be discouraged if we can’t consider your application this time—perhaps it will work out on your next attempt with a future opportunity!
How do you handle statements on salary expectations?
Working at VSB
What makes working at VSB special?
If you ask our employees, the answer is clear: it’s the team spirit and the cordial work atmosphere!
New team members are welcomed openly and warmly, and the collaboration among colleagues is harmonious, shaped by mutual support and helpfulness. Because of the project-based nature of our work, there’s a lot of cross-departmental and cross-team cooperation, which helps everyone build strong connections beyond their own teams.
It’s not unusual for teams to meet up after work for social activities, and for many colleagues become friends after some time as a result. You can experience this team spirit firsthand, not only in your everyday work during regular meetings and project sessions, but also at our frequent employee and team events.
Another key factor is our shared passion for what we do. We’re all driven by the vision of shaping a greener future—and you can really feel this common passion in the way we work together.

What does the onboarding process look like?
Of course, the details will depend on the specific role you take on with us. However, for all positions, your first day will start with a welcome session from our HR team, along with a short introduction with the Organization and IT teams. Here, you'll receive important general information and everything you need for a smooth start.
You'll also get a personalized onboarding plan that outlines key knowledge areas, organizational insights, and your main points of contact. Depending on the skills required and your work environment, you'll learn through different methods: internal or external training sessions, direct support from your teammates, or other approaches.
In your first weeks, you'll also join onboarding sessions where different departments introduce themselves. This gives you a great overview of the company and helps you connect with key contacts for a variety of topics right from the beginning.
